We were honored to help our client The Maddox Shop host a wonderful event to celebrate their 80th anniversary last month. Specializing in intimate apparel, The Maddox Shop is a family-owned gem of a business located in Casa Linda Plaza. The store carries an extensive selection of bras, ranging from hard-to-find sizes to mastectomy bras and bridal bras, as well as shapewear, sleepwear, lingerie and swimwear. With on-site expert fitters and seamstresses, The Maddox Shop features custom fitting/alterations and truly personal service.
The history of the shop is fascinating. Original founder Peggy Maddox started it in 1934 to serve polio patients with braces and medical corsets. Based on customer requests, she expanded to include what were known as “foundation garments” – today’s intimate apparel. It’s humbling to think that in 1934 this entrepreneurial woman built a thriving business that also provided a valuable service to the community…what an inspiration! I wish I had been able to know Peggy Maddox.
Peggy’s legacy of service carries on today under the stewardship of father-daughter team Mark and Jessica Snyder, who own and manage the store. This year we’ve had the privilege of working with them and The Maddox Shop’s terrific staff to create an updated brand identity, launch a new website, ramp up social media efforts and implement a customer loyalty program.
Last week’s anniversary event was a celebration of what The Maddox Shop is all about—making every woman feel more confident, comfortable and beautiful. We’re so proud to be supporting The Maddox Shop in their next phase of growth. Congratulations and happy anniversary!
With fly-by-night operations popping up (and down) every day, business longevity matters and can set you apart from the competition. Whether it’s 5, 10 or 80 years, if your company has an upcoming anniversary, be sure to take advantage of this special time. Here are some tips to make the most of your milestone:
Showcase your anniversary within the heart of your brand. Create an anniversary version of your logo that maintains the integrity of your visual identity but prominently calls attention to your milestone. We advise clients to use the anniversary logo on their website and selected marketing materials for the full year around their anniversary. Here are a few examples of anniversary logos we’ve designed:
There’s no better time to recognize the people who have helped your business grow over the years. Depending on your budget, the gesture can range from a small token of appreciation tucked in a thank you letter sent to contacts all the way to a full-fledged celebration event. One of our clients, APQC, celebrated its 30th anniversary with a 70s costume party and a walk-through ‘time capsule’ that spotlighted the company’s growth alongside significant historical and cultural events over the decades. If you do host an event, be sure to invite top prospects—nothing beats a fun, positive, in-person opportunity to get to know your company better.
A significant anniversary is worth sharing and is a great way to showcase growth. For a press release, include a timeline or list of key achievements and growth along with a client or two commenting on why they think your business has stood the test of time. Use social media to showcase your anniversary, either right around the date or event or for several months of your anniversary year. Don’t be afraid to get creative—use photos, fun facts or trivia from the year of your company’s founding to spur interaction while you spotlight your longevity.
